Connected (Musical)
''Connected'' (also referred to as ''Connected the Musical'' and ''Connected - The Cyber Bullying Musical'') is an Australian rock musical, written by Craig Christie. The musical first premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, however is based in Australia. The musical focuses on teenagers and the risks of social networking, and is primarily aimed at a youth audience.
== Plot ==
Emma is the new girl at school, and so is trying to find out about friendships and the social order. She meets the popular but manipulative Kate, the socially awkward Dylan, and the 'cool guy' Mike on her first day. Kate sees Emma as a threat, and so uses social media to turn many against her. While Dylan tries to befriend Emma, Kate works against this, also trying to prevent Mike and Emma from becoming friends. As Emma has no friends and nowhere to turn, she struggles to deal with the situation. Eventually, with Kate having turned everyone against her, the police get involved as Emma becomes depressed and contemplates suicide. Dylan, Kate and Mike all tell different stories of the situation with none of them accepting any of the blame.
Connected has a strong cyber bullying message.
